Arizona Fall League scoreboard: Solar Sox, Javelinas, Rafters notch wins

A brief recap of Wednesday's Arizona Fall League action.

The Mesa Solar Sox downed the Scottsdale Scorpions 4-3 despite home runs from the Scorpions' Randal Grichuk and Ricky Oropesa. Center fielder Matt Szczur led the way for the Solar Sox (7-16), going 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI.

The Peoria Javelinas (16-9) trounced the Phoenix Desert Dogs 8-0, led by center fielder Billy Hamilton. The fleet-footed Hamilton was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBI, a double and his ninth stolen base in AFL action. Peoria starting pitcher Logan Darnell threw four scoreless innings, striking out five, to notch his first win.

First baseman Matthew Skole paced an eight hit attack for the Salt River Rafters in their 8-3 win over the Surprise Saguaros. Skole, a product of the Washington Nationals system, went 2-for-4, with a home run and four RBI for the Rafters. Right-hander Deck McGuire picked up the win for Salt River (13-10), his second in AFL play.
