Despite conflicting reports on the status of outfielder Justin Upton and pitcher Trevor Bauer, Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers has denied either is on the trade market.
Starting with Upton, Towers told Diamondbacks beat writer Nick Piecoro of AZ Central Sports, "We're not shopping him. When people ask about him, we listen." That quote came via Piercoro's Twitter feed.
It also directly contradicts a report from Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal on Wednesday. According to Rosenthal, a league source told him that Upton would likely be moved this offseason, with the chances of him playing somewhere other than Arizona next season at "80-20."
Towers also denied any interest in moving young right-handed pitcher Trevor Bauer. The 21-year-old finished with a 1-2 record during the 2012 season.
According to Piercoro's Twitter feed, Towers mentioned that he planned to "keep his young arms."
That too is contrasts a report from earlier, when ESPN's Jerry Crasnick tweeted that the Diamondbacks would listen to offers on Bauer.
