NFL picks against the spread, week 13 late games: Few lines, but Broncos look to be safe pick

Sunday's late games could be full of treasures with the right selections.

Andy Lyons

It seems that with all of the injuries, Bovada is having a difficult time setting lines on games the further the season gets along. When starting quarterbacks are out, it is best not to place a bet on any team at all, as the spreads are usually pretty wild.

Still, I will give you my picks against the spread for the late games on Sunday. As always, the lines come from Bovada.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers +7 vs. Denver Broncos

This is a case where neither team knows the other particularly well, but with two explosive offenses, it is bound to be a good game. Peyton Manning isn't the only reason the Broncos are playing so well as of late. The defense is playing on another level behind potential DPOY candidate, Von Miller. I think they will get pressure on Josh Freeman and this game will end up being anything but close. Take the Broncos minus the points.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens- no line

With Ben Roethlisberger still ailing, it was a foregone conclusion that this game was not going to have a set line. With Big Ben doubtful to play, the line may get set somewhere closer to gameday. With Charlie Batch set to start at QB, if the spread is anywhere near 7 points or less, you should take the Ravens.

Cleveland Browns vs. Oakland Raiders- no line

Another game without a line and this one is somewhat puzzling. Carson Palmer is limited in practice with a thumb injury, but I would guess that he ends up playing. Darren McFadden could also make his return coming back from an ankle wound. If both of them play, I see no reason as to why they would not be favored at home. Still, if the spread is anything greater than 3, stay away from this one.

Cincinnati Bengals -2 vs. San Diego Chargers

Raise your hand if you were one of the people that thought the Bengals would be favored on the road against the Chargers when this season started. Philip Rivers looks like a shell of his former self under Norv Turner and the Chargers look like they are headed for some big changes after the season. With A.J. Green and the suddenly surging BenJarvus Green-Ellis, the Bengals look like the good pick here.

Philadelphia Eagles +10 1/2 vs. Dallas Cowboys

I know the Eagles are in turmoil, but wow. This is quite the line to be setting. Michael Vick is probably assumed out and the team is shaken up after the cutting of Jason Babin. Andy Reid is showing his players that mediocrity is unacceptable, so I expect them to come out and play with a fire this week. It's also a divisional game, so even if they have Nick Foles at QB, I cannot justify this big of a spread. Take the Eagles and the points.

Happy hunting!
