There were 12 NBA games on the slate last night. With many of both league's top contenders taking the court, let's jump into all the action.

After dropping their first two games of the season, the Los Angeles Lakers lost again last night at the hands of Blake Griffin and the Clippers, 105-95. Kobe Bryant went off for 40, but did not receive a lot of help from his teammates.

The Miami Heat headed into New York and fell to the Knicks by a score of 104-84. The Knicks moved out to an early 17-point lead early in the first half and never looked back. The defending champs are now 1-1 this season.

The Boston Celtics lost their second straight game to begin the year, falling to the Milwaukee Bucks, 99-88. Like the Lakers, Boston is winless this season against some tough competition.

James Harden went off (again) on Friday night to set a new career high with 45 points. His efforts led the Houston Rockets to a 109-102 win over the Atlanta Hawks. Houston now has two road wins.

Despite not having Kevin Love or Ricky Rubio, the Minnesota Timberwolves held on late to beat the lowly Kings, 92-80.

Finally, the Phoenix Suns knocked off the Detroit Pistons to secure their first win of the season. Marcin Gortat had a huge night with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Goran Dragic had 15 points and 10 assists.
