Sun Devil quarterback Taylor Kelly and five of his teammates have been selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic Team, according to Conference commissioner Larry Scott.
Kelly, linemen Jamil Douglas and Kody Koebensky, kicker Alex Garoutte and linebacker Grandville Taylor were honorable mentions, while linebacker Brandon Johnson was selected to the first team. Johnson's spot on the team is well-earned and not just because of his 3.44 GPA. The linebacker was a walk-on for Arizona before he earned a scholarship this summer.
Garoutte has the distinction of this being his second selection, having earned the honor in 2011 as well.
Kelly is a San Francisco native that earned the starting job in his sophomore season. Completing nearly 67 percent of his passes, Kelly had 2,581 yards and 25 touchdowns with just nine interceptions.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, a player must be a starter or significant contributor and hold a grade point average above 3.0.
