The Arizona State Sun Devils got a big monkey off their back last Saturday with a dominating win over the Washington State Cougars. They can now go into their annual rivalry match-up with the Arizona Wildcats not worrying about becoming bowl eligible with a win. Bragging rights are still at stake though in this annual rivalry and the Wildcats open a field goal favorite over the Sun Devils.
The series between these two schools started in 1899 but only 85 games have been played since then. The Wildcats have won three of the last four after the Sun Devils won four of five in the middle of the decade. Arizona won 31-27 last year in Tempe.
Arizona is currently riding a two-game winning streak after a dismantling at the hands of the UCLA Bruins a couple of weeks ago. Arizona State fell to the USC Trojans in Los Angeles before making easy work of the Cougars last week.
