It seemed unlikely that senior quarterback Matt Scott would start for the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday after sustaining a concussion against UCLA. The coaching staff prepared all week for Scott to be out, meaning junior B.J. Denker received the lion's share of the snaps with the first-team offense.
As UA began warmups on Saturday morning, Scott was seen in street clothes and without pads. He will indeed be out against Colorado. This was to be expected, but there was always the slight chance Scott could feel up to it. Denker will make the start as expected, and wide receiver Richard Morrison could also see some playing time in the backfield.
It will be interesting to see just how heavily Arizona runs the football today. Ka'Deem Carey and Daniel Jenkins are more than capable of carrying the football 40 times today, although the Buffaloes will likely stack the box all game. Will the Wildcats be able to get much of a push with their makeshift offensive line? We'll find out shortly.
Kickoff from Tucson is set for 11:30 a.m. MT.
