Arizona Fall League scoreboard: Scottsdale, Surprise nab wins in Wednesday action

The Scorpions and Saguaros walked away with victories in AFL action on Wednesday, while Salt River and Mesa battled to a 2-2 tie.

The Scottsdale Scorpions (11-8) downed the Phoenix Desert Dogs (6-10) 6-2 in Scottsdale. The Scorpions jumped out to an early lead when they dropped four runs on Desert Dogs starter Nick Bucci in the bottom of the fourth inning. Chris Dominguez went 3-for-4 with a triple to lead the way for Scottsdale.

The Surprise Saguaros (11-8) came from behind to knock off the Peoria Javelinas 6-4. Designated hitter Colin Walsh, a St. Louis Cardinals farmhand, led the way for Surprise, going 2-for-4 with four RBI in the win. Surprise starter Ben Henry struggled in two innings of work, giving up three runs on six hits, but the Saguaros bullpen held held on to the lead, surrendering just one unearned run after the second inning.

The Salt River Rafters (11-7) and Mesa Solar Sox (5-13) battled to a 2-2 tie. Right hander Ryan Tepera threw five scoreless innings for the Rafters, striking out five Solar Sox and walking one.
