NFL picks against the spread: Houston will make Texans toast of struggling Jets

Monday Night Football and a pick against the spread.

In my attempt to get back on the correct prediction side following a debacle of a loss by the Cowboys to the Bears last Monday, this week we have a pretty easy game to pick: the Houston Texans at the New York Jets.

The Jets are at home and they are somehow 2-2 on the season. But they're coming off a crushing 34-0 loss at home to San Francisco, they're missing their best defensive player in cornerback Darrelle Revis, they're without their best receiver in Santonio Holmes, their top tight end in Dustin Keller and quarterback Mark Sanchez might be a game away from losing his starting job to Tim Tebow.

Could it get so bad on Monday in Jersey that Tebow actually takes over during the game? Houston is one of the last two undefeated teams left in the NFL and has a very good defense, and defensive end J.J. Watt might sack Sanchez multiple times the way he is playing.

To say nothing of the Texans offense. All-everything running back Arian Foster, an offensive line that paves the way for an outstanding running game and a big, physical receiver in Andre Johnson with a host of complementary pieces.

The Jets can talk all they want about bouncing back, but it won't happen this week. They're outmanned, have too many injuries and if not gashed by the run, will have problems in pass coverage.

Houston (4-0) is a nine-point favorite. Expect the Texans to win and cover.
