Arizona took the first lead of the game when outfielder A.J. Pollock homered to left for the second time in his career to give the team a 1-0 lead in the third. However, in the top of the next inning, Colorado would take the lead.
Charlie Blackmon led off the inning being hit by a pitch and Jordan Pacheco singled. Wilin Rosario hit a ground ball to third baseman Chris Johnson that looked like it would be a double play. However, Johnson's throw was off line and trickled away from Aaron Hill. Blackmon would score and Pacheco ended up on third base. Ian Kennedy settled down to strike out the next two hitters, but gave up a blooper to right for an RBI to D.J. LaMathieu.
Aside from that blip in the fourth inning, Kennedy was fantastic to end his season. He pitched seven inning, allowing only those two unearned runs. the problem was that the offense didn't help at all.
Unfortunately, Kennedy's effort was wasted and he was tagged with his 12th loss. Francis went five innings, allowing the one run on five hits and got the win. he finishes the season 6-7.
Justin Upton had three hits and improved his batting average to finish the year at .280. For Colorado, Jordan Pacheco, who scored the deciding run, had three hits, as did D.J. LeMathieu, who drove in Pacheco.
Arizona finishes the season an even 81-81.
