NFL Picks against the spread, Week 8: Falcons set up for first loss of season

Our against the spread picks for early Sunday games.

Geoff Burke-US PRESSWIRE

Here are this week's NFL Sunday morning games previewed with a gambling twist. Lines are from Bovada.lv.

New England Patriots -7 vs. St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams were picked apart last week by the Green Bay Packers pass offense. I don't see anything different happening against the Patriots in London, England. Pats by two touchdowns.

Tennessee Titans -3.5 vs. Indianapolis Colts

Chris Johnson is starting to look like Chris Johnson for the Titans, while two weeks ago the Colts made Shonn Greene look like Jim Brown. Not a good combination for Indy. I will give the points and take the Titans.

Green Bay Packers -15 vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

This is a gigantic line that I wouldn't bet. Green Bay could be without Jordy Nelson and Greg Jennings, but it really doesn't matter much. The Packers will beat the Jags it's just a question of by how much. Hold a gun to my head I would go with the Pack.

San Diego Chargers -3 @ Cleveland Browns

I irrationally like the Cleveland Browns too much so take this with a grain of salt. I'm going with the home dog with Brandon Weeden putting on an air show against the Chargers defense.

Philadelphia Eagles -3 vs. Atlanta Falcons

Both teams are coming off a bye week. The Eagles have found ways to lose this season, while the Falcons find ways to win. I actually think these teams are pretty comparable talent wise. I'll take the Eagles at home.

Detroit Lions -1 vs. Seattle Seahawks

I like the Seahawks team significantly better than the Lions, but Seattle is a completely different team at home then on the road (3-0 at home, 1-3 on road). I have to take the Lions because you can't go against facts.

Chicago Bears -9 vs. Carolina Panthers

The Panthers are second in the NFC in giveaways and the Bears are first in the NFC in takeaways. That is what I like to call a bad combination. Chicago wins by double digits.

New York Jets -1 vs. Miami Dolphins

A monstrous AFC East tilt when it comes to the AFC playoff picture. It's an important game for the Jets with their upcoming schedule and Miami wants revenge for an early season loss. Homer pick alert I'm going with the Jets.

Pittsburgh Steelers -4.5 vs. Washington Redskins

I would like nothing more than to pick the Redskins in this game, but I just can't. Their pass defense is atrocious and Big Ben can sling it around the field. This will be a high scoring shootout with the Steelers winning by at least a TD.
