UCLA vs. Arizona State: Sun Devils open as 5.5-point favorites

ASU opens just short of a touchdown favorite against the Bruins for homecoming this Saturday.

After suffering their first conference loss of the season, 43-21, to the No. 4 Oregon Ducks last Thursday, the Arizona State Sun Devils open as 5.5-point favorites over the visiting UCLA Bruins this Saturday. The Bruins are coming off a close win of their own, holding off the Utah Utes, 21-14, at the Rose Bowl last weekend.

Arizona State struggled in the first half against the Ducks, allowing the visitors to score all 43 of their points before the halftime gun. Arizona State managed to take an early lead after defensive tackle Will Sutton forced a fumble on Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota. The Sun Devils scored one play later, but Oregon would pull ahead on the next drive and never look back.

UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley threw for 183 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 68 yards and another score against Utah. Wide receiver Shaquelle Evans was on the other end of Hundley's 64-yard touchdown toss. Running back Johnathan Franklin also picked up 79 yards on 22 carries and hit pay dirt in the 3rd quarter.
