After a big weekend in Tucson that saw the Arizona Wildcats thump the Washington Huskies, 52-17, Arizona opens the week as 8-point underdogs to the No. 9 USC Trojans. Southern California handed out its own stomping last week, making it look easy against the Colorado Buffaloes and winning, 50-6, in the Los Angeles Coliseum.
USC will come into Tucson as winners of four straight, after suffering their only loss of the season to the now-No. 17 Stanford Cardinal in mid-September. The win over the Huskies snapped a three-game losing streak for the Wildcats, including heartbreaking losses to Stanford in overtime and to the No. 7 Oregon State Beavers.
Senior quarterback Matt Scott finished the game against Washington with a career-high four touchdown passes, helping Arizona to its first conference win of the season. Sophomore running back Ka'Deem Carey had an impressive night, finishing with 172 yards on 29 carries. The Arizona offense will be carrying a lot of momentum into its game with USC, after finishing with 533 total yards against the Huskies.
