ASU Football: Marion Grice is a touchdown machine

He seems to score almost every time he touches the football.

The Arizona State football team is a surprising 5-1 on the season and is going to play their game of the season next Thursday as they host the Oregon Ducks. One huge contributor so far this season has been junior college transfer Marion Grice, who was the top rated junior college running back coming into the season. He has made a huge impact.

In a season in which Cameron Marshall was supposed to be the standout player, it has been Grice and freshman D.J. Foster that have made their names known.

Marshall was expected to dominate and also take over the team record for number of touchdowns in a career. He still might reach that, as he scored his 34th TD as a Sun Devil on Thursday. He needs six more to break the record.

However, if you talk about touchdowns, Grice is the guy to talk about. It is apparently what he does.

Through six games, he has scored nine times. Even more impressive? It has come on 50 touches. He has run the ball 37 times and found the end zone five times. He has 13 catches and and scored four times. On 40 percent of his touches, he has found the end zone.

The funny part? In two years of junior college, he did not have a receiving touchdown. He had three alone on Thursday night.

If he keeps up that clip the rest of the season and heading into next, instead of Marshall, it may be Grice we talk about and approaching the team TD record -- and with only two years of eligibility to do it.

That would be pretty amazing.
