The Arizona State Sun Devils have allowed the Colorado Buffaloes back into the game with a sloppy second quarter and now only lead 20-17.
ASU got the party started on their second drive when RB Marion Grice took a well-blocked screen pass 37 yards for the first touchdown of the game. New kicker Jon Mora's career wouldn't get off to such a hot start though, with his extremely low extra point easily being swatted down.
But following an unsuccessful fourth down conversion by ASU, the Buffaloes would finally find pay dirt. A two-yard rushing touchdown from RB Tony Jones put Colorado ahead, 7-6, on a drive that was extended due to a missed fumble call and a question pass interference.
Arizona State retaliated on the following drive as QB Taylor Kelly found D.J. Foster on a beautiful 34-yard touchdown strike. But for this extra point, Todd Graham elected to go back to Alex Garoutte and the sophomore drained it easily.
And ASU continued the high octane fun as soon as they got the ball back. After hooking up with TE Chris Coyle for catches of 30 and 18 yards, Kelly fired in a laser to Grice for an 18-yard touchdown to put the score at 20-6.
But some poor tackling on TE Nick Kasa allowed Colorado to get a big fourth down conversion on their final drive. And two plays later, QB Jordan Webb would find Kasa again for a 20-yard touchdown.
The negative momentum carried over to the kick return too with Jamal Miles getting stripped on the 17 yard line. The huge turnover set up a 37-yard field goal from Will Oliver to put the game at 20-17 heading into the locker room.
Arizona State will be getting the ball to start the second half.
