NCAA Bracketology: West Region Could Feature Intriguing Matchups

Phoenix would possibly host an Elite 8 game between Ohio State and Kansas, according to SBNation's current bracketology.

In SBNation's most recent Bracketology, the West region - which plays its Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games in Phoenix - features some intriguing teams and matchups.

The top-seed in the region is Ohio State, followed by the Kansas Jayhawks, UNLV Runnin' Rebels and Murray State Racers. Murray State built its reputation around upsetting teams as a lower-seed so seeing it listed as no. 4 seed at this juncture is a sign of respect to what that program has built. But they are set to play Davidson in the first round, another team that has a past of upsets. It always seems like teams that are used to being lower-seeds who finally get a chance to move up, usually get upset themselves. Just ask Gonzaga.

A dangerous Saint Mary's team sits in the no. 6 spot and could meet UNLV in the second round with a spot in Phoenix on the line. A Florida State team with a win over Duke under its belt will be a dangerous no. 7 seed with a defense that could carry it into the Sweet 16.

The West region has enough diversity and talent to make for some interesting matchups come time to play in Phoenix. But Ohio State should come out as currently situated, knocking out Kansas in the Elite 8 in a revenge game for a previous loss to the Jayhawks suffered without star big man Jared Sullinger.
