Rashad Evans (21-1-1) takes on Phil Davis (9-0) in the main event of UFC on FOX 2 this Saturday night. If Evans wins he will most likely get a title shot against Jon Jones, barring any injury. Davis has slowly climbed the ropes in the UFC light heavyweight division, going 5-0 in the company since his entrence in 2010.
Evans has been in the UFC since 2004 and has pretty much seen it all. He has won a title, he has lost a title, he was was cast as a fighter on season two of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality show, and he coached season 10 of the show. Evans has impressive UFC victories over the likes of: Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz, Stephan Bonner, Michael Bisping and Rampage Jackson.
In December of 2008, Evans defeated Forest Griffin to with the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. In his next fight, he lost the title to Lyoto Machida.
Evans has five victories by knockout in the UFC. His knockout of Liddell won "Knockout of the Year" at the World MMA Awards in 2008. He has won three straight fights since his knockout loss against Machida.
Davis is relatively new to MMA and has blossomed into a UFC contender in just nine career fights. Davis wrestled at Penn State, winning an individual NCAA National Championship in 2008 at 197-pounds before beginning his MMA campaign.
Davis defeated Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in March of 2011. Injuries plagued Davis the rest of 2011 as he was scheduled to face Rashad Evans at UFC 133 in August, Davis was forced to withdraw from that fight with a knee injury that forced him to miss the remainder of 2011.
