ASU To Induct Ten Former Athletes Into Sports Hall Of Fame On Saturday Vs. Oregon State

Ten former athletes will join the ASU Sports Hall of Fame during halftime of Saturday's football game against Oregon State.

The ASU Sun Devils will induct ten new members into the school's Hall of Fame at halftime of Saturday's game against Oregon State. The 2011 class will include the following players:

  • Adam Archuelta (football)
  • Mike Benjamin (baseball)
  • Lucy Casarez (softball)
  • Kurt Nimphius (basketball)
  • Grace Park (golf)
  • Townsend Suanders (wrestling)
  • Marvel Smith (football)
  • Stacey Tullock (soccer)
  • Molly Tuter (basketball)
  • Fernando Vina (baseball)

Overall, the class represents seven sports total.  ASU will induct two players from each of the three sports of football, basketball and basketball in addition to one player from each of the four sports of softball, golf, wrestling and soccer.

Five of the six football, baseball and basketball players (barring Tuter) went on to play for professional sports teams. Smith, a left tackle for the Pittsburgh Steelers, even won a Super Bowl ring during his 10-year NFL career in the 2005 season.
