ArenaBowl: Arizona Rattlers Fan Talks Championship Game

The Arizona Rattlers are hosting the ArenaBowl tonight, facing off against the Jacksonville Sharks at 5:30 PM Pacific time. The game is being broadcast on the NFL Network.

For some deep insight on the game, we turn to Rattlers fanatic Matt Williams, who will be attending the game tonight at US Airways Center.

SBNAZ: Why do you think the Rattlers will win the ArenaBowl tonight?

MW: The Rattlers will become 3 time ArenaBowl champions tonight backed by their excellent defense, the MVP of the league, Nick Davila, and the best fan base of any Arena League team.

They are the class of the league this year with a 14-2 regular season record beating every team in the league this year (their 2 losses were to the teams they beat in the playoffs) and their turnover ratio is everything you would dream of in a championship team. All these factors, along with their winning pedigree will make them the 2011 Arena League champions.

More after the jump.

SBNAZ: What's your take on Nick Davila?

MW: I'm excited about Nick Davila being our Quarterback. Watching him throughout the year he has demonstrated that he is more than worthy of the first MVP award the league has given since 1995. His poise, decision making and drive to win shine through in every game and will surely put his name right next to Sherdrick Bonner's in the history of Rattlers' quarterbacks.

His ability to survey the field and keep his turnovers and mistakes to a minimum are essential and make me glad he's on our side and that we get to watch him every week.

SBNAZ: How big a fan are you?

MW: I've been a huge fan ever since the very first game in 1992 which I was at. I still have the program from that game and I'll be shaking the very same rattle I got at that game tonight. I remember watching both Rattlers' ArenaBowl wins in 1994 and 1997 as a teenager up north in Flagstaff and I'll be attending tonight with my parents and my fiancé, who will be attending her second ArenaBowl (she attended in 1997).

It will be a great bookend to the season after being there opening night when the Rattlers made an inspired comeback against the Sharks to win 55-52 sending them on their course to eventually meet, and again beat, the Sharks to hoist their 3rd championship and Foster Trophy!

Thanks for the good information, Matt! Go Rattlers!
