The Arizona St. Sun Devils have been looking for steady running back production ever since Dennis Erickson arrived in the desert. Russell Hansbrough from Arlington, Texas becomes their next big hope. ASU was one of two Pac-12 schools (Washington State being the other) that offered Hansbrough, and they beat out a list of schools that included Auburn, Baylor, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, SMU and Washington State for his offer, Doug Haller of the Arizona Republic reports.

When you see Hansbrough, you notice that he primarily operates in a shotgun offense, which is similar to the type of offense the Sun Devils run currently with the Airraid. Hansbrough does not appear to possess elite speed, but does seem to have the patience to wait for blocks to unfold before attacking his running lanes. His ratings are average (5.6 on Rivals, 77 on ESPN, 3 stars on Scout) and his size is diminutive (5'8", 173 pounds), but there might be more to Hansbrough than immediately meets the eye.

Here you can watch virtually every single play Russell Hansbrough has ever made on the high school level at Bowie--22 minutes of tape!
