Tickets On Sale For Inaugural "Monsoon Classic" - Morelia v. Club America

Tickets for the preseason match between two top Mexican First Division soccer clubs, Morelia and Club America, on July 10 in Glendale are now on sale.

The game, labeled the Monsoon Classic and backed by Phoenix area soccer club Phoenix Monsoon, will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium. Most seats are $20 to $40, with a few $100 field seats available.

Morelia features a pair of players with national team experience, striker Miguel Sabah, who shined in the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup for El Tri, and defender Adrian Aldrete. Midfielder Elias Hernandez is with Mexico’s 2011 Gold Cup team now for the June tournament. Coach Tomas Boy was captain of the 1986 Mexico World Cup team that made a memorable run at the World Cup in its native country.

America is a storied franchise known for big spending and big names. The biggest right now is goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who is at the Gold Cup.

Additionally, there has been talk of the possible return of Mexican legend Cuauhtemoc Blanco, whose representative is in talks with Club America about a contract. Blanco, who began his pro career with America in Mexico City,  was last seen in the U.S. playing for the Chicago Fire of MLS.
