‘UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber 2' will be held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 2, 2011. The organization's two-month long title drought will be rectified, as the event is headlined by the first official Bantamweight Championship under the UFC banner, featuring Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber.
Needless to say, the two fighters have quite a long and bitter history. Both squared off once before -- March 24th, 2007 at WEC 26 for the WEC Featherweight Championship. "The California Kid" left the cage victorious that night, handing Dominick Cruz the only loss of his career via guillotine choke just 1:38 into the first round.
A year later Cruz dropped down to the bantamweight division and instantly made his mark, stringing together five straight wins, culminating with a TKO victory over Brian Bowles to become WEC champion. Soon after, Faber -- unable to contend with new featherweight phenom Jose Aldo -- dropped down to the 125 pound division in search of a new crown. Now the roles have reversed, and "The California Kid" finds himself chasing Cruz's belt on the biggest stage imaginable.
Also featured on the main card is a surefire slugfest between Wanderlei Silva and Chris Leben, and a potential changing-of-the-guard light heavyweight match between Tito Ortiz and Ryan Bader. Carlos Condit vs. Dong Hyun Kim and Dennis Siver vs. Matt Wiman round out the pay-per-view action.
