UFC 130 Medical Suspensions: ‘Rampage’, Four Others Suspended For Six Months

The Nevada State Athletic Commission have handed down six-month medical suspensions to five UFC fighters following Saturday's ‘UFC 130: Jackson vs. Hamill' event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The extended suspensions could throw a monkey wrench into any immediate plans the UFC brass may have been preparing.

Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Frank Mir, Brian Stann, Jorge Santiago, and Michael McDonald all received notice that they would be unable to complete until November 25 due to various injuries sustained before or during the event. Though, provided a quick recovery, each fighter has the ability to be cleared early by a physician.

However, Jackson, Mir, and Stann all are required to sit out at least a month, regardless of physician input. Santiago and McDonald incurred much more serious injuries -- a left orbital fracture and left shoulder injury -- and will more than likely be forced to sit out the whole of the suspension.

Stefan Struve and Rafaello Oliveira also both received suspensions, though much less restrictive. The two fighters have been suspended for two months and will not be approved for contact until July 13th.

UFC 130 medical suspensions:
Quinton Jackson: Suspended six months for a left hand fracture. No contact approved until 6/19. Minimum suspension time until 6/28. Permissible to be cleared early by physician.
Frank Mir: Suspended six months for an injury to left ribs. No contact approved until 6/19. Minimum suspension time until 6/28. Permissible to be cleared early by physician.
Brian Stann: Suspended six months for a right thumb injury. No contact approved until 6/19. Minimum suspension time until 6/28. Permissible to be cleared early by physician.
