2011 Kentucky Derby Results: Final Finishing Order From Churchill Downs

Animal Kingdom won the Kentucky Derby this year, amid a wide-open field and a wealth of unknowns (his jockey, John Velazquez, was slated to ride Uncle Mo until that horse was scratched). Animal Kingdom was a 20-1 long shot, and the victory gives Velazquez his first in the Derby.

Crowd favorites Nehro and Mucho Macho Man came in second and third, rounding out the trifecta. Dialed In, the favorite from the odds, finished in a disappointing eighth place and never was able to challenge for the roses.

Archarcharch was diagnosed with a lateral condylar fracture after coming up lame on the stretch. Luckily, this ailment is not life-threatening, and even with a bad leg the colt still finished in 15th place.
