The Arizona State Sun Devils essentially maintained their standing in the latest NCAA baseball rankings, moving from eighth to seventh in Baseball America’s poll, but dropping from seventh to eighth in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Sun Devils won three of four last week, including a non-conference matchup against the Arizona Wildcats, to boost their record to 31-10, which does not reflect Monday’s victoy over Brigham Young. The Sun Devils have won 10 of their last 11 games.
Arizona dropped out of both polls last week and has yet to return, but may have righted their sinking ship with a three-game sweep against Southern California, which included a 20-4 victory. Prior to that winning streak, the Wildcats had lost six of their last eight contests.
ASU wraps its two-game set with Brigham Young on Tuesday at Packard Stadium, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30. It’ll take on Long Beach State in a three-game set at Packard Stadium Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Arizona next takes the diamond Friday against Alcorn State.
