Phil Jackson Replaced As Lakers Coach By Mike Brown

Phil Jackson is officially out of the picture.

After a short search, the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed in principle to hire former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown to a four year deal allegedly worth more than $18 million.

↵

With the move, the Lakers officially begin the next step of their franchise's progression. With Kobe Bryant and company still on the roster, there is plenty of continuity -- but will Brown bring championships to LA?

↵

At age 65, Jackson is primed for retirement. Winning 11 championships in 20 NBA seasons, Jackson has proven that his calm demeanor could bring together contentious personalities in any scenario.

Mike Brown has huge shoes to fill, and at the same time must show growth from his time in Cleveland. With more tools and superstars than he ever had with the Cavs, Brown should be able to erase those bad LeBron-centric memories in the Staples Center.

Lakers fans want results now, though. Brown better bring his best game as soon as he arrives.
