The Diamondbacks head to historic Wrigley Field on Monday to take on the Chicago Cubs in a game that will start at 11:20 a.m. PST. You can find the game on Fox Sports-Arizona.
The Diamondbacks are 1-1 on the season after the third game of their first series against the Rockies was postponed due to snow. That's never something you want to read in a story about a baseball game. As a result Joe Saunders, who was scheduled to start yesterday for the Snakes, will get the start today. Saunders had a rough Spring Training, giving up 24 earned runs in just over 17 innings pitched. But the regular season provides a new opportunity and fresh start.
"Even as a hitter, you want to get off to a good start, you don't want to go 0-for and as a pitcher you don't want to give up any early runs," Saunders told Arizona's website. "You want to get off to a good start, and that's what I'm going to try to do."
He will face Randy Wells, who had a spring that was the opposite of Saunders'. The Cubs pitcher had a 2.10 ERA in the Cactus League, which helped him claim the fourth starting spot in Chicago's rotation. The 28-year-old right-hander has won both of his career starts against Arizona, striking out 18 batters in 13 innings.
