It's always a good time when the Chicago Cubs come to town. Chase Field is filled with fans of the lovable losers and unlike Dodgers or Yankee fans, Cubs fans are kind of fun. You just want to hug them and pat them on the head and tell them, "It's OK, someday your team will win a World Series again".
If they get a big ornery, you can just point out to right field were the Arizona Diamondbacks 2001 World Championship banner hangs and say something smart like, "Nanny, nanny, boo-boo. We have a banner in this century and you don't."
Pitching match up's for the series begin on Thursday with Barry "Big Red" Enright (0-2, 6.65) going against Ryan "The Dumpster" Dempster (1-2, 7.63). Friday we are scheduled to see Armando Galarraga against the always fiery Carlos Zambrano. Don't miss that game, Zambrano might punch some one -- most likely a teammate.
Saturday we circle back to the top of the rotation and find out if Good Ian or Bad Ian shows up. Kennedy faces Matt Garza. Then on Sunday it's Casey Coleman for the Cubs against Daniel Hudson.
Thursday's game is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. on Fox Sports Arizona with the live game thread at AZ Snake Pit.
Series Preview #9: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Chicago Cubs - AZ Snake Pit
Dear 2011 Diamondbacks, We've only known each other for 23 games, but so far you've actually been kinda fun to hang out with. I mean, there's still plenty to complain about, like the Mets series and Joe Saunders' start to the season and pretty much everything Xavier Nady does, but there have also been more good times than I was expecting.
