College Baseball Rankings: Arizona Drops Out, But Arizona State Rises Before Head-To-Head Matchup

The latest NCAA baseball rankings from Baseball America and the USA Today’ Coaches’ Poll were released Monday, and the results were unkind to the Arizona Wildcats. Following a week in which it dropped two of three contests to Oregon, Arizona fell from 23 in both polls to out of the rankings entirely. The Wildcats now stand with a 24-15 record and have lost five of their last seven games overall. They last won a series the weekend of April 8-11, when they took two of three from California.

On the other hand, the Arizona State Sun Devils continue to ascend the rankings, moving up one spot in each. Baseball America now has Arizona State, 28-9, in the eighth position, while the USA Today Coaches’ Poll ranked it seventh. Last week, Arizona State swept a three-game series with California with a combined score of 17-4. Since March 26, Arizona State is 12-3, with the only losses coming in one series against Oregon State.

Tuesday night, the Sun Devils visit the Wildcats at Sancet Stadium. The first pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
