Arizona Diamondbacks Face New York Mets In Weekend Big Apple Series

The Arizona Diamondbacks (8-9) have won three of their last four games and are feeling mighty pleased with themselves for winning a second series against the Cincinnati Reds. They take those good feelings into New York for a weekend meeting with the Mets who are 6-13 on the season.

The Mets, like the Los Angeles Dodgers, are mired in their own financial mess but unless the team accountant takes the field, that shouldn't matter.

The series will feature Joe Saunders (0-2, 6.32) against Mike Pelfrey (0-2, 9.72) in Game 1 on Friday.

Saturday's day game has Barry Enright going against Dillion Gee and Sunday it will be Armando Galarraga versus Jon Niese. The Snakes will avoid former D-back Chris Capuano in this series.

Offensively, the Diamondbacks sit at fourth in the league in slugging percentage while the Mets are 18th. Remember when we were worried about the power deficit after getting rid of Mark Reynolds and Adam LaRoche

The Mets lineup includes Carlos Beltran who's bat seems to be fairly productive so far this season.

Game time is 4:10 p.m. AZ time and the game will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports Arizona.

Series Preview #7: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets - AZ Snake Pit
Following a surprising series victory against the division-leading Reds, our Diamondbacks travel to New York to square off against the Yankees Mets in the venerable "House that Madoff Built."

With the New York Knicks currently in the NBA playoffs and officially competent again, the Mets have been thrust into the role of "Dysfunctional Team the New York Media Enjoys Ruthlessly Scapegoating."  Not that it's unjustified.
