College Baseball Rankings: ASU Up, Arizona Down In Latest Polls

The Arizona State Sun Devils moved up from 10th to ninth in the latest Baseball America poll. ASU swept its three-game series against Washington State during last week, bumping its record to 25-9 and offsetting the sweep it endured against Oregon State the week prior.

The USA Today Coaches' Poll also ranks the Sun Devils 9th in the nation. Both polls have Virginia, with a 36-3 record, atop the country.

However, the Arizona Wildcats have trended in the opposite direction, slipping to 23rd in both polls. Losing two out of three games to UCLA could only have hurt the 23-13 Wildcats' standing. Overall, Arizona has dropped six of its last nine games.

The Sun Devils continue their season Thursday, April 21, when they open a three-game series against California. At 23-9, the Golden Bears are a worthy foe, ranking 15th in Baseball America and 19th in the Coaches' Poll. Meanwhile, Arizona has a three-game series against Oregon lined up. It also starts April 21.
