Mike Leake Arrested For Stealing Shirts, Still Slated To Face Arizona

In a bizarre story, former Sun Devil and current Cincinnati Reds star Mike Leake was arrested for allegedly stealing six shirts from a Macy's in Ohio. From Cincinnati.com:

Loss prevention employees at the Macy's Downtown store called police after they said Leake removed security tags from six American Rag T-shirts, valued at $59.88, and walked out of the store without paying for them. The incident was captured by store security cameras, police documents state.

Leake is known around the majors for making the rare leap directly from college baseball into the Cincinnati Reds' rotation, entirely bypassing the minor league system.

It's very interesting that Leake would attempted to steal such inexpensive shirts, especially considering his salary ($425,000) and the $2.3 million signing bonus that he received two years ago.

Leake could face up to 180 days in jail for this boneheaded move, but this begs the bigger question: what was he thinking? Only the man himself could tell you that.
