The two New York Red Bulls (MLS) teammates played integral roles in the 1-1 draw between New York and one of Mexico’s top clubs, Atlas of Guadalajara, Tuesday night at University of Phoenix Stadium.
↵Henry, former FC Barcelona and French national team star, was the playmaker, trying to create for teammates. He deferred a penalty kick to Marquez, a friend and former Barcelona teammate facing his former team in Atlas, and Marquez converted it.
↵Marquez is a World Cup veteran for Mexico and was the big draw of the match.
↵The match signaled the end of MLS preseason training in Arizona. The regular season begins March 15 — less than a week away — when the Seattle Sounders host the Los Angeles Galaxy in a rematch of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs from last fall.
