Super Bowl Sunday: It's Finally Here

It's been a full year since the last Super Bowl Sunday, a day full of friends, food and revelry. It's a strange mix of holiday and sporting, a blend of Thanksgiving and, well, Thanksgiving. The one Sunday a year when people plan to take a sick day on Monday just so they can have another Coors Light.

What could be better than this? Ever since I have been old enough to steal beers from the refrigerator, I've found this day to be the most festive of occasions. Shrimp cocktail tastes just a little better when it's accompanied by beer commercials and the Black Eyed Peas. On that note, I think we can all agree that Fergie should keep her clothes on; there is no wardrobe malfunction in the world that could possibly make me think she's attractive.

I've developed a bit of a man crush on Aaron Rodgers this past season, with him being my fantasy quarterback and all. When he was concussed against the Lions in Week 15, I felt awful - not for him, but because I lost the first round of the playoffs.

Today will be a day where I cheer wildly for the Green Bay Packers, not only because I picked them in our "expert picks" (I don't want to look bad, right?) but because I hate the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a Philadelphia Eagles fan, it is my sworn duty to yell expletives at the television whenever Troy Polamalu strokes his hair or Ben Roethlisberger winks at a 17-year old girl in the stands.

Alas, we're only a few hours away from the culmination of an entire year of sports. After today, there will be nothing to do on Sundays, and we'll be back to the doldrums that are the winter months. Hey, who ate all the guacamole?
