UFC 126: Ryan Bader, Former ASU Wrestler, Faces Tough Test In Jon Jones

Ryan Bader is undefeated (12-0-0) during his career, which started on The Ultimate Fighter 8 and has since evolved into something much more. Bader used to be teammates on the Arizona State University wrestling team with current UFC #1 Cain Velasquez, who is on the shelf after having shoulder surgery in mid-January.

Bader faces possibly the toughest test of his career this evening, fighting Jon Jones as a part of UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort. Jones, known as "Bones" by his fans, is a versatile fighter that is well known for his creative fighting techniques. Jones has training in jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and was also a respected wrestler in his younger days.

"Darth" Bader is no slouch either, having a celebrated wrestling career in both high school and in college. He is known for his powerful punches and for being a Divison I All-American wrestler at ASU. Here's his highlight reel:

This match is significant for both fighters, as a victory in this fight will go a long way in legitimizing their careers. The winner may be able to earn themselves an opportunity to fight for the title if they continue to win throughout 2011.

UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort is slated for this evening at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Bader and Jones are listed on the main card, and are billed third.
