2011 Insight Bowl: TV Skycam Falling From Heaven (Video)

Sometimes the action on the football field isn't exciting enough to keep the television audience tuned in on a Friday night with one team (the Oklahoma Sooners in this case) handily beating the other team (the Iowa Hawkeyes).

Normally in these circumstances the television broadcast team will start talking about other things of interest. Sometimes the television producers will even cut away to another more exciting game or back to the studio from some analyst insight and witty banter.

But on this Friday night with just over two minutes remaining in the 2011 Insight Bowl, ESPN tried something new and dropped their skycam on to the field and almost hit a few Iowa players. Now, we are certain this was purely "accidental" and we obviously don't think any ethical TV director would stage something like this.

"First, I looked: What is it that fell out of the sky? The next I know, the line from the camera was kind of scratched me a little bit. It was just pulling me and I knew I didn't want to keep going with it (laughter)," McNutt said after the game.
