2012 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl: Selection Process, Projections, Schedule And Ticket Info

The 2012 Fiesta Bowl is right around the corner. We have full coverage of the events and game leading up to the big day.

It's bowl season again and while the BCS National Championship might not be here this year there will still be one very intriguing showdown for Arizona sports fans to watch when the 41st annual Tostitos Fiesta Bowl kicks off on January 2 at 6 p.m at University of Phoenix Stadium. Like always, the Big 12 Conference champion is set to face off against a BCS team of their of the bowl's choosing. And since the Fiesta Bowl is first in line for the selection order, it sure to be a top-notch match up.

Although we wont know for sure till Sunday, currently, the third-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-1) are projected to face off against the fourth-ranked Stanford Cardinal (11-1), assuming the Cowboys aren't upset by the 10th ranked Oklahoma Sooners this weekend.

If that ends up being the case, it is likely that this Fiesta Bowl will be another close one like in recent history. With last year's 48-20 romping of Connecticut by Oklahoma and the 2008 48-28 West Virginia/Oklahoma game being the exceptions, three of the last five Fiesta bowls have been determined by a touchdown or less including the 43-42 Boise State/Oklahoma overtime thriller which is forever imprinted in the minds of those who watched it (Don't believe me? Check the highlights for yourself).

So if you're interested in viewing whats shaping up to be another instant classic firsthand, you can buy your tickets here. Otherwise, you can always participate in the Fiesta Bowl Block Party on New Year's Eve from 5:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Mill Avenue and then watch it live on ESPN on the second day of the new year.
