Kyle Turris Return Delayed, Could Go To AHL Portland

The return to the ice of Phoenix Coyotes center Kyle Turris will have to wait. Originally, he was slated to play for the first time since resolving his contract holdout dispute, but for some reason that's not going to happen according to this report from Craig Morgan of Fox Sports Arizona:

#Coyotes say Kyle Turris will not play tonight in Winnipeg. Possible he could still report to Portland (AHL) for a few games.

When Turris first agreed to a deal it was assumed he would be sent to the AHL affiliate Portland Pirates to work himself back into hockey shape. His conditioning, however, was reportedly so good upon his extended layoff that he was slated to return after a few practices with the team. For whatever reason, that plan seems to have changed.

The Coyotes are in Winnipeg to face off with the Jets. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. local and will be on FSN AZ.
