Another big Saturday of college football is on tap. Here we take a look at the biggest college football games of the weekend with NFL Draft implications. The schedule features Michigan vs. Nebraska and two of the top quarterback prospects, Robert Griffin and Matt Barkley.
Nebraska Cornhuskers vs. Michigan Wolverines features cornerback Alfonzo Dennard. Dennard is known as an all around quality cornerback, good in coverage and tackling. This gets put to the test against Michigan. It will be interesting to watch how he holds up against a Michigan team that runs off the edges and cornerbacks need to help in run support. Dennard's discipline will also be tested as Michigan runs a good amount of play action and his eyes can't get caught in the backfield or he will get hit for a big play behind him. Denard is currently ranked 20th on the Mel Kiper's 2012 NFL Draft Big Board.
Baylor vs. Oklahoma and USC vs. Oregon feature big tests for quarterbacks Robert Griffin and Matt Barkley. Griffin is starting to creep up draft boards of the experts, I already consider him the second best quarterback that could potentially be in this draft and a big game against an Oklahoma defense could go a long way in making him a top five pick.
I am not on the Matt Barkley bandwagon. I think he could fit in West Coast, quick hit type system, but haven't seen enough of him making plays down the field to be sold. USC should be able to put up a lot of points against Oregon, but I want to see Barkley make throws NFL quarterbacks need to make to be successful.
Griffin is currently ranked 24th on Mel Kiper's 2012 NFL Draft Big Board while Barkley is 10th.
