NASCAR AT PIR: Traffic, Parking, Weather And Other Phoenix Race Info

Twice a year NASCAR comes to Phoenix International Raceway with a big Sprint Cup Series event. Hundreds of thousands and fans from around the southwest descend on the west valley track which creates all kinds of traffic and parking snags. We have the latest info along with a weather update for Sunday's race fans.

Traffic and parking information

Phoenix International Raceway is located at 7602 S. Avondale Blvd. The track is located south of the I-10 which creates traffic issues on the interstate all day. For fans going to the race, the exit they should use is determined by their parking pass (or lack thereof). Details can be found here.

A very good option is the Park-N-Ride shuttle service:

Getting to Phoenix International Raceway - Phoenix International Raceway
After much success in recent years, the Park 'N Ride program returns to Cricket Pavilion, located just two blocks north of I-10 on 83rd Avenue (Exit 135). All NASCAR fans heading to PIR are welcome to enter at the 83rd Avenue entrance and park on Pavilion grounds, from where shuttle bus service from First Student Charter of Phoenix will be provided to the Gate 7 area at the track. Parking and shuttle services to PIR will total just $7 per car.

Additional traffic information can easily be accessed by dialing 511 on any phone.

Weather update

The Phoenix area experienced overnight showers with a high chance of rain throughout the morning and early afternoon. The forecast is expected to clear just shortly before the schedule 1:30 p.m. MT start time. There's always a chance of more rain during the chance so be prepared for anything.

Temperatures will be in the mid-60's which is darn chilly for Phoenix. Wear a coat.
