Phoenix's Own Benavidez Jr. Part Of Pacquiao-Marquez III Undercard

José Benavidez Jr., widely regarded as the next big thing to come out of Phoenix in the boxing world, is listed on the bout sheet as part of the undercard of the Pacqiuao vs. Marquez 3 rematch of the rematch main event in Las Vegas on Nov. 12.

Benavidez, a 19-year-old super lightweight who has lived most of his life in the Valley, is set to fight Gary Bergeron of Metairie, La., in a six-round match that leads off the professional card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Benavidez will be in the red corner.

Benavidez is 13-0 with 12 knockouts as his rise through the professional ranks continues. He fought in Arizona in June of this year at the WildHorse Pass Casino and was featured by this writer on SB Nation Arizona. Begeron is 12-8 with 7 KOs to his credit.

Benavidez has been working out at trainer Freddie Roach's Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, Calif.  He has sparred with Amir Khan, the current WBA super and IBF light welterweight champion.
