After watching the TCU Horned Frogs defeat the Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl, and seeing Andrew Luck and the Stanford Cardinal decimate the Virginia Tech Hokies in the Orange Bowl, a logical conclusion can be reached: we've been duped by the BCS and the NCAA yet again.
↵Stanford is clearly an excellent team that only lost to the Oregon Ducks. TCU is 13-0 -- what happened to crowning a consensus champion?
↵I'm not going to deny that the Auburn Tigers and the Oregon Ducks are the top two teams in the country. Judging from the conferences they hail from and the records they possess, they deserve that designation. But what happened to truly earning it on the field?
↵Would a +1 playoff format truly ruin the bowl system? I highly doubt it. Boise State fans would still travel to Las Vegas to watch the MAACO Bowl. The Insight Bowl will still attract throngs of Midwestern college football fans, and whether or not there is a playoff system in college football, no one will attend the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl in Detroit.
↵TCU and Stanford had excellent seasons, and it's a shame that their season-ending victories cannot culminate in something bigger.
