It appears as though Rudy Carpenter, the former Sun Devil that we love to hate, has earned himself a roster spot with Tampa Bay.
After an excellent performance in their final preseason game, the Buccaneers found it fitting to hold onto Carpenter as their third string QB going into the season.
Carpenter is known for his grit and determination rather than his innate physical abilities. He can take a beating and will continue to play at the highest level. He was a warrior for ASU, and he will be a solid addition for Tampa Bay.
Let's see some reaction from the Twittersphere:
Congrats to Rudy Carpenter on making the Tampa Bay Bucs roster. Toughness counts in that league.
Who would have thought Rudy Carpenter would be on an NFL roster today and Matt Leinart wouldn't...?
General manager Mark Dominik said third-string QB Rudy Carpenter earned his roster spot after a strong preseason ... http://bit.ly/aPkVlY
It is true - Rudy Carpenter is seen as a better choice than Matt Leinart for multiple reasons. Carpenter will actually be happy as the third stringer, while Leinart would be a negative presence.
Still, it goes without saying that I'm happy for Carpenter. I wish him the best in his NFL career.
