Cardinals Blown Out By Falcons, Time To Panic?

New, 4 comments

It would be easy to forgive a road loss to the Atlanta Falcons - a team who lost their opening game to the Steelers and desperately needed a win at home to get their high-expectation season off and rolling. Not to mention revenge factor for getting booted from the playoffs by the Cardinals in 2008.

But can you forgive the way the Cardinals lost this game or is it time to face the music and accept that this team is just not that good bad?

↵

We knew the offense would struggle without Beanie Wells and a less-than-100-percent Larry Fitzgerald catching balls from his new QB Derek Anderson. But the defense and mental toughness and experience was supposed to at least keep the Cardinals in the game.

↵

That didn't happen today as the Falcons were able to run the ball 45 times for 221 yards and had their way with the Cardinals defensive line. Time and again they drove down the field and punched it in against a defense that gave little-to-no resistance in this game.

We can mock Derek Anderson and his two picks and inconsistent accuracy, but this one falls on the defense and the overall lack of team focus. Too many penalties (10 for 109 yards) were a sign of a team not prepared to play.

↵

But in the end it still only counts as one loss and it was probably a game that the Cardinals weren't going to win anyway.

Is this a bump in the road or are you worried that this Cardinals team is destined for a sub .500 record?
