The Citadel Visits Arizona: Wildcats Aim For 2-0 Start, 7:00 p.m. AZT

The Citadel (1-0) is an FCS team, hailing from South Carolina. For those who aren't aware, The Citadel is a military school:

Founded in 1842, The Citadel has an undergraduate student body of about 2,000 students who make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Another 1,000 students attend The Citadel Graduate College, a civilian evening program that offers graduate and professional as well as undergraduate programs.

The Bulldogs were 4-7 last season. They were beaten to the tune of 40-6 on the road against North Carolina, their only FBS opponent on the 2009 schedule.

Arizona may be able to put up even bigger numbers, considering their 41-2 decimation of Toledo last Friday night.

In terms of offensive firepower, The Citadel boasts Matt Thompson, a versatile quarterback who lit up Chowan University (Murfeesboro, North Carolina) last weekend.

Thompson ran for 70 yards and a touchdown on eight carries while throwing for 127 yards and three touchdowns. In total, Thompson was responsible for the vast majority of the Bulldogs' ball movement, and is going to be a factor in Tucson on Saturday.

A true freshman out of Daytona Seabreeze High School in Daytona, Fl., Thompson is also a talented basketball player. While there may not be much of a chance for The Citadel against Arizona, this young player will be leaned on to produce.

Arizona brings Nick Foles, Nic Grigsby, and a stable of talented players aiming for the school's first Rose Bowl bid. Don't expect a competitive game.
