Sun Devils Shorthanded at Defensive Tackle This Week

Arizona State will have only four defensive tackles able to play this Saturday against Portland State, coach Dennis Erickson said.

Sophomores Toa Tuitea and Corey Adams are out for at least two more weeks. So ASU will have senior Saia Falahola and juniors Lawrence Guy, Bo Moos and Jamaar Jarrett available Saturday. Jarrett was recently moved inside from defensive end.

“Because of those injuries, we’re going to have to play a little bit more three-down front then we’d planned on early. It was going to be in our nickel (package), but now you we’ve got to look at it as a defense you can play against the run and do some different things,” Erickson said.

Linebacker Vontaze Burfict is still dealing with a sore ankle but it’s getting better, and he isn’t expected to miss Saturday’s game.
