Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) – Miguel Montero hit the tie-breaking homer off Chris Capuano in the eighth inning, sending Arizona to a 2-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Sam Demel, who notched his first major league win on Monday, picked up his first career save despite a shaky ninth inning. Rickie Weeks singled to lead off, but Prince Fielder grounded into a double play. Casey McGehee doubled down the right field line and was pinch-run for by Ryan Braun, but Joe Inglett grounded out to end the game.
Barry Enright pitched six innings and allowed three hits, including a second- inning homer to Alcides Escobar, in the start for Arizona. Blaine Boyer (3-2) threw the ensuing two innings for the win.
Capuano (1-2) retired the side in order in the seventh, but Montero belted the first pitch of the following inning over the wall in center for his fifth homer of the year.
