Jilted Lover: Why I'll Boo Amar'e

New, 2 comments

I'm not going to sit here and pretend that I'm a classy guy. In fact, I'd venture to say that I'm the complete opposite. However, I do love my sports teams with a burning hot passion that borders on insane. Thus, when a player leaves the city and team I love, I feel justifiable bitter -- so bitter, in fact, that I will gladly lead a chorus of boos when that player returns to the Valley of the Sun.

How do I justify said bitterness and booing you may ask? Well, in the case of Amar'e Stoudemire, it's fairly easy:

  1. He received what amounts to a fair contract offer from the Suns. Yes, I know it's relatively silly for someone to turn down multi-millions of guaranteed dollars, but if he had achieved his reasonable minutes per game goals, he would have made the same dough.
  2. He claims to care about winning and is now going to play for a team who's second best player is Danilo Gallinari -- a man who I refer to as "The Italian Guy." This seems to be a far cry from the Western Conference Finals. If he gets LeBron or Wade to join him, this obviously changes, but when Stoudemire agreed to his deal, it seemed very unlikely that either would play ball.
  3. He doesn't like playing center AND has well-documented problems with Mike D'Antoni... yet he went to New York anyway... you know, where he'll play center for Mike D'Antoni.

What do you think? Will you join me in booing Amar'e? Am I a whiny man-child? Is Chubby from Teen Wolf walking through that door carrying a liverwurst sandwich and championship dreams? Embrace the power of the poll.
