Jeff Sullivan at SB Nation.com is impressed with this deal for the D-backs.
Hudson, we figured. He's a pretty good young starter now who could and should be a pretty good starter for a number of years in the desert. He is a very good return for the Diamondbacks on his own.
As for David Holmberg, he was the White Sox' second-round pick in the 2009 draft. The lefty just turned 19 two weeks ago, and features promising secondary stuff for a pitcher his age. Though his fastball velocity doesn't quite measure up to his 6'4 frame, he was one of the organization's better prospects coming into the year, and he's a good second piece for Arizona.
This looks to be a great trade for Diamondbacks GM Jerry Dipoto on the heels of his Dan Haren disaster. All that's left to do is to see what the White Sox end up doing with Edwin Jackson.
And the Republic's Nick Piecoro is also looking on the bright (young) side:
With Pat Corbin, David Holmberg and Tyler Skaggs on board -- Skaggs in a week or so -- Dbacks will have 11 of top 95 from last year’s draft.
