The D-Train Can't Find The Track

In 21.1 innings of work as a Diamondback, Dontrelle "D-Train" Willis has thrown nothing but balls...as in balls outside the strike zone. Some quick stats on just how bad Dontrelle's control has been with Arizona:

↵
    ↵
  • 27 walks compared to 12 strike outs
  • ↵
  • 11.4 walks per nine innings which is the worst BB/9 of any D-backs starter by a HUGE margin. The next worst is Edwin Jackson's 3.8 walks per nine
  • ↵
  • Willis is the only D-backs starter with a negative strikeout/walk ratio - .44. The next worst starter? Rodrigo Lopez with a 1.84 ratio
  • ↵

Yup, it's that bad for Dontrelle who's struggled with his control for the past four seasons but instead of getting better with a fresh start in the National League has taken a giant leg-kick backwards. He had a 6 walks per nine innings record in Detroit which is almost twice as good as his performance in the desert.

The answer for the Diamondbacks?

↵

Send him to the bullpen according to KTAR, where no one will notice how bad he's pitching when compared to the likes of Chad Qualls.

↵

The D-backs will replace Willis in the rotation with Barry Enright who jumps up from Double-A Mobile and has never pitched at the major league level.

↵

That's how bad it is for the 30 and 48 D-backs.
